Spring 2013 Program Schedule

SUNDAY

12-2am    Cats Under Nuclear Threat    Hilary Nelson, Emma Nye

Our show will feature music from all over, new and old, but with an emphasis on lesser known indie bands. We want to get new music out there and push people a little out of their musical comfort zone.

8-10am    The Cookie Dance with Chef Schnorgonoff    Greg Schnorr

Seasonal Recipes are mixed to music and paired with drink specials. Local Food and Wine Events are Always Promoted, along with Frequent Hand Washing!

10am-12pm    Sunday Morning Classics    Anthony Marks

The show is for those who wish to widen their knowledge of classical music and gain more of an understanding of what goes on in the world of classical music.

12-1pm    Out of Order    Erik Larson

Where else will you hear playlists like Songs About Planets, Songs from 1991, or Six Degrees of Musical Separation between Jay-Z and Paul Simon?

1-2pm    Whiny White Girl Talk with Clara and Evelyn    Evelyn Levine

A variety talk show featuring recent events in pop culture and the Whitman bubble all from the perspective of your favorite Whiny White Girls.

2-3pm        Baguette, Boeuf, Pamplemousse?    Ryan Campeau & Ethan Robertson

Each week Ethan and Ryan will choose a French artist to highlight, providing information about the artist along with a selection of his/her music. We will discuss a topic of the week and read aloud from a selection of French literature as well. Familiarity with French language is recommended.

3-4pm    Snarks of Winterfell    Danielle Wilson & Nico Celi

Hosting a mix of modern and classic music, the Snarks of Winterfell follows the hosts Nico Celi and Danielle Wilson to provide listeners with a truly superior and appropriately geeky listening experience. Here, we will review recent developments in nerdculture and answer the most essential and piquant questions posed by our time, such as: magnets, how do they work?

4-5pm    Beatles Radio    John “Jack” Swain

A show that will explore the legacy of the Beatles. If you would like to be under the sea in an octopus’s garden in the shade, this is the show for you. The walrus was Paul.

5-7pm    Homegrown Show    Jim McGuinn

7-9pm    Blues Therapy    Ray Hansen

Throughout it’s 10-year run Blues Therapy Radio Show is a 7-Time finalist for Best Blues Radio Show (Empire Awards-Spokane, WA). Ray Hansen & Armand Parada play Blues from all sub-genre’s and all over the world.

9-10pm    12 Goats in a Row    Kevin Gardner

The show would be a mix of talk and music. There would be talk segments, usually based on current events. The show would also bring along with it thoughtful insights into today’s scientific developments. And lastly there will be lesser known music as well as some of the greatest hits interspersed among talk segments.

10-12am    Burch Beats    Cody Burchfield

Working around a theme each week, I work to highlight the best, and most under appreciated, hip-hop/rap. With a mix of brand new material from around the internet and older stuff from back in the day, there is always a diverse array, especially because I throw in the tastiest selections from other genres as well.

MONDAY

We would play music from multiple time periods and genres which we feel is “dead”, forgotten or overlooked.

Here at RPBC we try to bring together music from a wide variety of eras in a way that relates them together in order to show how music has changed and how it has stayed the same. From The Rolling Stones, to The Stereophones, to Flobots, to George Watsky, you’ll hear the classics alongside new, fresh fare straight from the studio. Stay tuned to hear interviews with new artists and news about all your favorite acts.

1-3pm    Minntervention    Sean Lyndes

Minneapolis hip-hop and independent artists complemented by alternative international artists hailing from Latin and South America, West and South Africa, Canada, Eastern Europe, and more. The show spotlights each region on a rotating basis.

4-6pm    Cryogenic Husk    Stacy Buchanan

Ranging from loud to quiet to the just plain weird, Cryogenic Husk’s aim is to mix brutality and catchiness with many peaks and valleys to always keep the listener on their toes.

6-8pm    The Witching Hour    Claire Johnson & Anu Lingappa & Sara Rasmussen

Providing emergency wizard rock for the stranded witch or wizard.

8-9:30pm    Acousticity    Laura Hall

Acousticity with host Laura airs Mondays from 8-10 pm, and features many genres of music, with the primary  instrumentation being acoustic. This includes Traditional, Americana, Blues/Roots, Jazz, Folk, Singer-Songwriters, Swing, and Dawg/New Acoustic, among others. The Front Page Bluegrass News with Brian McNeal is included, and occasionally there is a live interview from a local or visiting artist, and I connect with the musicians and audience during the show and throughout the week on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/AcousticityRadioShowKWCW90.5FMWallaWallaWA. Laura is a member of the Association of Bluegrass DJs.

9:30-11pm    The Collective    Chadwick Aufderhar

Songs, Poetry, and Conversations focusing on music as a motive, mode, and means for inspiration and creation. Interviews with musicians, writers, and artists in which they discuss their creative growth or experiences and share music that has gone with them. Poetry paired with music that highlights the possibilities for making connections between the two.

11pm-1am    Nicolas Cage    Max Breitenbach

Two hours of contemporary rap and hip-hop, ranging from Talib Kweli to Juicy J.

TUESDAY       

12-2pm    Old Pond    William Newman-Wise

Old Pond combines music of the 80s and today, with Google Translate commentary and stupid stuff.

2-4pm    Party Rock Radio    chris ruble

My radio time would be me just taking requests playing the newest songs out and talking about community events.

4-5pm    Naptime Epics    George Felton

Naptime Epics is here to sooth you and relieve all your needs for fantastic literature. Tune your radios and your ears as I either send you to sleep or take you on an unforgettable journey. Starting this semester with the Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

5-6pm    Rock the Wallas    Fidel Angel Magdaleno

The show would consist of mostly alternative bands and some ska/reage with with local bands coming to play live and interview.

6-8pm    Hard Times Radio    Gary Young

Hard times or not, this is two hours of music that you may or may not have heard before. If you like Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, or Bob Betts, tune in. Listening to Hard Times Radio has been known to make hard times fade away.

8-10pm    Kill Ugly Radio    Kyle Seasly

Exploring different themes every show- be it Americana, African Music, or 80’s Hardcore punk, each show will have a distinct flavor.

10-11pm    What the Folk?!    Hannah Bartman

Tune in for both the classics and newbies of folk. From Laura Marling to Bob Dylan this station will get your fill in of music for chillin’.

11pm-1am    Purple Hot Death Balloon    Mark Young

A late night variety pack of  dance music, punk rock, classical, hip hop, reggae, blues and any other music I can get to play nicely together.

WEDNESDAY    

11am-12pm    The NW Sports Optimist    Riley Foreman and Dylan Snyder

We like the NW and sports. Unfortunately, they aren’t always a great combo. One optimist and one realist talking Seattle athletics.

12-2pm    DJs ZJ’s Best James    Zack Wurtz

Classic rock hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Softer rock like Bob Dylan or The Grateful Dead, to the heavier Led Zeppelin and The Who.

2-4pm    Blanket Octopus    Alexander Robert Jack

Hopefully we will play current music in the indie rock scene. As well as some classic jazz, r&b, and soul music. Oh yeah, and folk too or something.

4-6pm    On the Toxic Planet    Theo Henderson

On the Toxic Planet brings you your nighttime dose of ambient music and long-form compositions while simultaneously scanning your memories and implanting dreams of popsicles and mechanized hamsters.

6-8pm    loudsortofquiet    Tori Holder

Rock.Indie.Folk.Punk.Unclassifiable.Other stuff.And a DJ just as tangential.

8-10pm    8bitsmiles    Nicole Holoboff

8bitsmiles is a show that plays wonderful sounds and songs and will make you all around just super happy. You should listen to it.

10-11pm    Mystical Allies & Co.    Nathan Liechty & Ysa Diaz

11pm-12am    BIG chillen    Anna Murveit & Clare Sobetski

BIG chillen has been bumping inside the mind and iTunes of Clare Sobetski and Anna Murveit for three years. This spring, the chill beats and dank tones will finally be broadcast over the radio waves. We draw our greatest inspiration from rap legend, the Notorious B.I.G. and Bob Marley himself, but the show will feature both legendary and fresh artists that follow in their tradition.

THURSDAY

Solena and Timon bring you the freshest music you’ve never heard. Both draw on their traveling experiences and European multiculturalism to send out imported good over the airwaves. We’ll also give you background information on some of the artists. Radio franco-allemande.

1-3pm    Bienvenida a Tijuana    Henry Gales

Radio show featuring Spanish-language rock, hip-hop, and more. From the mellow like Julieta Venegas and Orishas to the hardcore like Manos de Filippi and Mala Rodriguez.

3-4pm   Miranda Colors Free    Layne Schroeder

Miranda Colors Free is like a quirky, yet amusing, mix-tape made by a friend.

4-6pm    The Show Goes On    David Burtt

The Show Goes On brings back all those classic songs for you to enjoy. Whether you’re a Deadhead, an employee of The Boss, or you’re constantly getting the Led out, this is the station for you classic rock junkies.

6-7pm    Northwest Movement    Richard Jimenez

Life Freestyle Flows, interviews, New music Release,
Cali Life Style,Northwest New Artist’s, Support the Local music artist’s, Fans Request lines,and songs dedicated to lovers.

7-8pm    Hot & Bothered    Hari Raghavan

We are dreamers, we are thinkers, we are problem drinkers. We like folk bands and house music, and, from time to time, we talk politics and celebrity mishaps. Please be our friends.

From Bon Iver to the Beatles and back (with a little extra Neil Young for good measure)!  Everything you need is in the Junk Drawer!

10-11pm    Old School Jamz    Al-Rahim Merali & Ethan Robertson

Join DJ E-Rob and Al-Raheezy as we travel through Nellyville, meet Jenny on the Block, PIMP all over the world, stop for some peaches and cream, and roll out on a journey through the jamz that made our childhood supa fly.

11pm-1am    Aquamira    Emma Cotter and Karen Vezie

We will play music from all genres but mostly UK and international bands. Most weeks we will have a theme, for example 60s or all women musicians. In between playing two songs we will comment on them and provide witty banter.

1-2am    Bates-Heberlein News Hour    Evan Heberlein & Max Bates

Every week we explore some current events which we deem important. Topics covered range from important scientific discoveries to B-list celebrity gossip to international relations. And also we’ll be playing music most of the time.

FRIDAY       

6:30-8:30am    Retro Rules!    Retro Rose

Retro Rules! What Everyone Should Know About Classic Rock (and Rock in General) is anything and everything from entire classic albums, essential tracks, awesome songs, rock music history, and rare live recordings. Primarily based around classic rock, but also about the evolution of rock—so some newer music as well. Enlighteningly awesome music.

10-11am   Real Talk    Claire Vezie

We chat a little about anything that comes to mind and play a little music to go along with that. Usually we theme each week and the music relates to the theme. We play radio games (like Just a Minute) and laugh!

11am-1pm    hit-or-miss featuring What Time?    Hallie Swan, Jesse Mirman, Junpei Tsuji

space adventures through Neptune’s ear canal on a hot summer day drinking an ice coffee, and Jerry says hi. “let’s do a radio show featuring jazz, folk, electronic, and gangstarap,” he says. Neptune, god of the Sea, says “Hep. Let it be done…with ice coffee.”

This show is inspired by mid-afternoon conversations that take place over a cup (or two) of tea. Members of the community share stories about a variety of topics, heavy and light. The goal is to inspire conversation and the sharing of stories.

5-6pm    little talks    Nicholas Khor

Little Talks spotlights different members of the Whitman community each week. Students are invited to come share their stories and discuss what they are passionate about.

7-8pm    Reading Radio   Julian Weller & Grant Perdew

Everyone has a favorite story or poem, and almost everyone likes to be read to. Join hosts Julian Weller and Grant Perdew in the evening and listen to your favorite childhood stories.

8-10pm    4 is Cosmic    Kalen Bergado & Austin Easter

4 is Cosmic presents music from all sides of the universe. Bringing you sounds from the underground of Detroit to the clubs of Ibiza. Prepare for an ride through the wildest musical galaxy, and bring your dancing shoes.

Welcome to FunkyTown, where we will take you on a truly funky ride. Its a Saturday night, and you’re feelin’ alright, time to get down and boogie with your bad self while listening to so dirty jams. This show will be going back to the 70s, playing the funkiest jams of the yesteryears and the tunes that have been keeping the funk alive to this day.
